I had an epiphany today, LS1 F-bodies sound like ass.

[I haven't started a car related flame in awhile, so here I go.]

At least Corvette LS1's sound nicer because of true dual exhaust, but they still have that high pitched shit going oh. Ugh Ugh Ugh.

I was running errands today in the Yukon because my window motor blew up in the Z28. I was following some pewter LS1 Z28 up 141, he had headers (sounded like MAC midlengths), off-road y-pipe and Borla.

I was listening to him get on it about once every 30 seconds for no readily available reason while going down the road, and man did it sound like ass. It was loud, high pitched, raspy as hell; sounded like two civics with fart cans and no catalytic converters going down the road in one car.

Then he got on it going through an underpass and it turned out to be a manual car. To which I said to myself: "Oh, its loud and slow." :big grin:

Oh, and if anyone wonders what I have on my LT1 for exhaust, I've got Hooker long tubes (primaries are 1&3/4 diameter and 30" long, and a 3" collector), and custom true dual 3" exhaust, x-pipe, and Dynomax bullet race mufflers (basically straight through with fiber glass on the sides).

*note, not my picture, but its the same thing.

My exhaust > LS1 exhausts. Even if an LS1 had the same exhaust, LT1 exhaust tone > LS1 exhaust tone.

Bring on the flames, bitches! :fawk:

    This man speaks the truth.

I hate it when F-Bodies drive by. Nothing beats the sound of a 5.0 mustnag with Flowmasters. God its a thing of beauty. :wiggle:

He knows nothing, he drives a Sentra.

I bet you haven't heard a F-Body with true duals. I gotta get a video, because there's only a rare Mustang that can compete with me in exhaust sound quality. :)

Edit: But I agree, all F-Bodies with stock manifolds and y-pipe and just a cat-back sounds like ass. Headers its a bit better, but it still doesn't have that smooth true dual sound.

I'll agree that LT1s sound better than LS1s. I've always said that. They can sound really bad with the wrong exhaust setup.

I like my setup now though. :wiggle:

Yes, thats because I would be too far in front of your car. But I only run a 10:1 CR, and when I bottle the car, the spray adds more power than the engine makes period. :fawk:

I had my LT's with dual cutouts and e-cutouts after the collectors. I got rid of that because it all hung way too low. :(

Yeah, I'm having that problem... The headers have no clearance problems. It's the damned cutouts that scrape on everything now. :hs: I'm trying to decide if I should get rid of them or not.

:big grin: :big grin: :big grin: My little 355 only makes 360-380 rwhp with stock ported LT1 heads. I haven't bothered slapping it on a dyno, but time slips say thats what power I should be putting out.

But my car is all bottle. I just got the intake manifold back, its got 16 NX shark nozzles pumbed into it. All I've got to do is, get a 3 gallon fuel cell for in back (for 110 octane only), a suitable fuel pump, and all the lines to hook it up for the wet side.

I'll have all that shit routed by next season, I've got to do suspension and chassis work to even hope of hooking out of the hole. I'm going to do that before trying to hook 100-200 out of the hole, then an additional 200-300 on the big end. :big grin:

If I don't get in the 9's full weight spraying 400 horse at the wheels, I'll be pissed. Anyway I'm off to play some pool with buddys of mine. Have fun ladies! :)

My Sentra sounds better tuned than any Chevy engine, PERIOD.

Chevy = nothing but a bunch of noise
Nissan/Ford = wonderful tones. (except for the G35 coupe. It sounds like a Pontiac)
