Ok so I drive a 2003 Lancer EVO 8 that makes 380whp on pump gas. It's fast handles great and just a moster to drive. But it's harsh, twitchy and the paint just sucks. It's a toy for me so I'm not stuck driving it everyday. I commute into NYC via the bus.

So I want to replace it with a GT. Top of my list is a 997s, 645i, maybe holding out for a new M3. I want to keep the next car under 100K. For the most part I really can't afford much more. This car will need to be a daily driver. So if I'm going to buy this car I need to to last be fun to drive and give me lots of years of good service. I'm not apposed to buying used I was also thinking of a 996TT witch are in the 65-70K range. Also a E46 M3 with comp package is giving me a hard on but I had a 2003 e46 M3 and blow the motor so I'm kinda turned off.

    those are awesome.

M6, although i've personally never been in one, might also be an option :dunno:
if you like the attention, that is :coold:

if you don't want an M5 you probably won't consider this either, but anyways:

you do know the 996TT is AWD, right?

Check out a 997S, should fit into your budget, brand new, warranty, fast, comfortable, all that. Or, buy 2 50k cars, one toy and one luxo cruiser...

The 997S isn't necessarily super comfortable although I can say it's a definite upgrade from the Evo which is just downright harsh and noisy. The one thing about the 997S is that you should expect to pay a lot in tires. If $437 per rear tire doesn't bother you and replacing them every 12-18,000 miles, then it should be a no brainer.

na no problem with tires, I figure 10-12K per year on the car. and My EVO's stock advans lasted 22K and still have tread left so I kinda nice on tires. Did you drive one with the 18s does it ride smoother?

wife hates the E90s. She is pushing for the 997s or E46 M3. She can't wait until the EVO is gone. (I don't let her drive it anymore)

No, I haven't. The S only comes in 19s. If I start tracking it regularly, I plan to switch to 18s for the track however.

If I had the option, I would have ordered it without PASM. Not that it doesn't work well, but it has to be deactivated if you want to add coilovers and I find something 'impure' about the fact that it's continuously varying the valving of the shocks depending on my driving style. It's implemented gorgeously and really I can't complain about it other than the fear that it may be another unnecessary complication that will cause reliability issues in the future.

In Europe, the S can be had with a -20mm package (with LSD). Here, the regular Carrera can be had without PASM which I would opt for.

If you're going for a 997, I'd really really really go for the S. 40hp doesn't soung like that much when you already have 315 or something, but it's really worth it.

Yep I don't want the PASM. I don't plan on pushing the car past my limits and because it's street driven I think the NON S would be a better option. Plus it rides a tad higher then the S witch would be better for NYC MANHOLES witch stick up out of the ground. Oh did you know the 19s are a 1500 option on the NON S. I love those wheels...
