I am by no means a computer guru, but when that happens to me, what I usually do is find out the company that is on the pop up window, then go to the "Search" function of your computer and select "Find files or Folders" and then type in the name of the company. If you have no luck with the name of the company, right click on the pop-up window and select the properties of it and see if you can search for any of the series of words in the title of the pop-up, sometimes that helps.

I'm having a similar, but different problem right now that I'm about to post.

    Good luck.

I believe that's the Windows Messenger service
The window looks like and error style window with just an OK button on it?
If so, that is Windows Messenger.
And you don't have to give any lame F'er any money to get rid of it, I can tell you how to do it for free.....but I will take money if you offer it :)

You're right, because I turned it off about 1 or 2 years ago when I first heard about it and M$ said it wasn't a flaw, and yet as of about 2 months ago they finally say it can be expolited....ya think

Nothing against you, it's all on M$.

Well, the regular messenger service as used as such ISN'T a flaw. The problem is that someone figured out how to send more than just simple text via the messenger service.

I'm intrigued what the ten bucks buys you though - a reg file? Or did they actually package up a nice little exe file?

BTW, reminds of the tire salesmen who threw nails on the road outside his store.

but the flaw comes in the fact that you can create a bat files to hit 1 person a few 1000 times, and repeat...aka: a differenet style of DDoS
