The meeting is scheduled for... JULY 8TH!!! WTF!

April 18th to July 8th? What's the holdup? That's like ten weeks!

Then they have 45 days to issue the permit. I could be stuck with the pistol I've been carrying since my first birthday until September.

  2. You have to have a meeting with the sheriff? Where do you live?

    Multnomah County, OR

It's not an interview, it's a meeting to turn in paperwork, get livescanned, pay the $65, and call it a day. Having dealt with government officials before, I'm fine with it. I'd rather show up in person with my ppwk and get something stamped that says I'm GTG.

The sheriff's office was prompt with my C&R, I don't see any reason why there would be any hassles about this.

I've heard Multnomah county really sucks. All I had to do was get fingerprinted and turn in my application in Benton county. Wait time is generally around 30 days I think.

    Los Angeles County REALLY sucks.

  6. When I applied for my permit, the turnaround time was 1 day. Of course, the bitchy woman at the police station didn't call me, and I only found out it was ready when I called them after 30 days.

and even if the Sheriff does have a reason why you shouldn't get a C&R, he has to call ATFE and tell them, he still doesn't have any direct input on the process.

OC and CC are meant for the same purpose.

However, they are done in different ways.

in most cases, one does not need a permit to Open Carry. that's why radicus suggested that.

True, but there must be a reason why thread starter is applying for CC rather than just OCing amirite?

    right.

but, most people apply for their CC permit/license if they're in a shall issue state as soon as they're interested in defending themselves. and the natural progression is to apply, wait, and OC in the mean-time

TS said he was carrying it since he turned 21.

If he doesn't have CC permit, I guess he had to have been OCing?

That sucks. In Vegas, we have a Fingerprint Bureau that is like the DMV where you just show up with all of your paperwork and do everything. You end up getting the permit like 45 days later.

In California the Sheriff still has the discretion to issue the permit or not

 bunch of fucking liberal hippies who hate guns.
