the interior is not as bad as thought, the rust was not as bad as expected, overall nice looking car for $100. we put a battery in it, and 5 gallons of gas. it started right up, and ran like crazy... but needs a carb rebuild, and a few misc parts. it's got the 258, with a 4 speed manual. thinking about tubbing out the rear, and dropping my SBC in there.

    dude, thats awsome :big grin:

  6. SBC is cool, but personally, I would go for building up the stock engine.

Higher compression pistons, port/polish head(s?), agressive cam, and balance the crankshaft so you can rev higher, and you could have a potentially pretty damn good engine.

Granted, I know nothing about it, and it could be a total pile of trash.

Good luck with the SBC. :)

i already have a treefiddy, just needs a ring job and a rear seal. though i might keep the 258, since it's a straight 6(more torque, and longer stroke that the 232.). the thing is it will cost me around the same to do a motor swap, as it would to build up that 6(the treefiddy would be more reliable, and easier to find parts for.).

  8. Then I full agree that the 350 is the best option. :)

Sweet! After the body work is done, I'd paint it black, tint the windows, use Nite Shades on the taillights to darken them. Shine up the bumpers and add some chrome wheels (not to big, 16's maybe). Powered by your 350 that would one cool ride. I've thought about pickin' one up myself:bigthumb:

    That is awesome.

I'd build a Pacer X coupe with a built 401, four speed and all in black with a custom interior.

    :o

there was a v8 factory option so you will mostly need a v8 k member. the 258 is an extremly reliable engine with a bunch of easy upgrades. some came with Duraspark wich is a great upgrade. or some put HEI in. you can also put on the TBI off a 4.3 for a mileage increase.
