    i'm guessing you're young.

    unless it's a 1.8t, don't bother with the exhaust. even then, power>volume

You can't just bolt shit onto a naturally-aspirated engine to make it run better. More power requires more fuel, and more fuel requires more air, and your engine has no way to pull in more air. You can't even replace the intake to get any meaningful benefit, because unlike Hyundai or Honda, VW doesn't cripple its engines with shitty airflow. Your engine is already as good as it's going to get, which might sound like a slam, but knowing that will save you an assload of money that you could have spent on useless "upgrades". (Instead you can spend an assload of money on repairs.)

Also, asking questions like "hey guys, how do I make my car loud and annoying" tends to attract haters, whether you want them or not. Don't turn your car into a cop magnet. Oh, and...

DO NOT LET THE TIMING BELT SNAP. THE ENGINE WILL DESTROY ITSELF.

    That is all.

how many miles is it at? if you are around 70k id say get the timing belt, water pump, and etc changed to prevent shit from breaking.

    Until they break again.

Interestingly, the best fix for them involves replacing a slider in the mechanism with a ceramic cabinet knob.

Maybe get better tires, maybe get better shocks, but don't bother with engine mods. It'll take too much work to get it to go faster than it already does.

If you really want it to be louder, get a metal pipe CAI instead of a muffler. That way it'll make fun noises when you stomp the gas, without droning constantly. It's kinda like, I'll pay to hear someone's mouth, but I don't want to hear their ass.

    Rofl. Very well put.

OP, i would just go with exterior mods. Like coilovers (or springs if your poor like me), some nice wheels, gli lip kit. These cars do NOT like to be riced out, no fart cans please.

    Do some research on Vwvortex.com

why waste money on coils when a cup kit (if not just springs) will get the job done for the OP

Stiffer springs require stiffer dampers. Otherwise the ride gets bouncy.

He could go with Vmaxx coils. They're about $600, i've only heard one negative comment about them.

i have a friend that has a set and its bouncy as hell. it feels like I'm in some kind of rap video when they have the lowriders with hydraulics.

IMO a cup kit is better for coils any day of the week for a daily driver (which this car should be.. anything else would be ridiculous)

edit: the best way I can relate vmaxx coils is that they feel like cut springs.
