 I like how he was trying to pass it off when the ref called it a no contest and saying like he got off when he tapped. the dude was ragdoll after he hit his own head.

"b b b b b but look! see my arm got stuck under him! i, i, i, i, was waiting for him to get up off my arm.. see!"
yeah, and then once his arm is free, he sits up, then goes face first onto the mat between emerson's legs.

i always figured, that when you have the opportunity for a huge doubleleg, you make sure to try landing on them and put yourself in side control. with that slam, he wouldve ended up in guard.

Probably means that fight should have been declared a No Contest as well

Probably meant that the Hughes-Newton Fight was more sketchy than this one. In that fight Hughes actually passed out first then fell to the ground and thats when Newton got hurt.

If you want to be technical about it, he was knocked out before Emerson tapped

I think he was only quasi-knocked out, if he was completely out of it I would have agreed

    totally maynard's fight to win

it's possible that he was "quasi-knocked out" and just too dizzy to sit/stand up straight but still have the mental capacity to understand that he won right?

Yeah, i think Maynard got kinda stunned/hurt but its not like he got completely knocked out. Bottom line, Emerson tapped, aka forfeited the fight and Maynard was still conscious and breathing.

That fight where hughes won by tko was the rematch. The first fight (for the belt) Hughes had lifted Newton high up above the cage but Newton had a triangle choke locked in and Hughes dropped Newton and knocked him out. But they hadn't noticed til after that Hughes didn't actually slam Newton down, he had passed out due to the triangle choke and dropped newton. It took him a few seconds after he woke up to realize he had won the fight.
