Allegra works the best but needs a script and isn't cheap.

    I prefer zyrtec now.

If you mainly deal with severe nasal congestion, definitely try out Veramyst

I was suffering from horrible nasal congestion at night for 3 years...couldn't breathe through my nose at all when I slept. Went to an ENT earlier this month and he gave me a month's supply worth of Veramyst and now I can breathe again

Zyrtec was amazing before it was OTC, but now it's just so damn expensive :sad2:

veramyst is a scam. Its the same active ingredient as flonase...which has a generic (fluticasone)

its a different salt (insignificant) and supposedly its a "micronized aerosol" or some shit...but unless you have baller ass insurance, dont spend extra on veramyst.

Same with Xyzal, its just one enantiomer of zyrtec (its levocetirizine) which is rx only and expensive as shit. When you eat a zyrtec, its half levocetirizine and half dextrocetirizine (a racemic mixture)

Drug companies pull this shit all the fucking time to extend their patents, and in my educated opinion, its a scam.

I get veramist for free every few months because I just tell my pulmonologist my nasal passages are stuffed and I get bad PND and he gives a 30 day sample of it.

The thing that sucks is that after a few weeks it really dries out your nasal passage and will cause bleeding. You gotta use a humidifier with it.

:coold: you're one of the lucky ones. I just cringe when I see people paying $75 and $120 copays for that shit.

And saline nasal spray would work to keep your nostrils hydrated too. Just wait at least an hour after using a medicated nasal spray, so you dont wash it out before its absorbed. Maybe a little grosser than just running a humidifier but perhaps more convenient if youre travelling or something, and you can use it 11ty times a day, its just salt water.

Yeah, I use a netti pot to keep my nostrils hydrated and reduce inflammation. Works pretty well. I have a deviated septum + allergies though so my breathing will never what it "should" be.

That's what I used to think some years... but it always comes eventually. I find I am 100 x better off if I start my meds a month or so before allergy season gets bad.

no allergy crew. i do get a little sore throat when the season change from hot to cold or cold to hot.

especially now with it being 50 degrees one day and 75 the next.
