I found a small local gunstore that sells various guns. It's a very small store, just like three counters when you walk in and a rack of long guns in the back.

I saw they were selling a brand new Walther P22 for $260. Instead of buying it, I left to go to a bigger gun store to see if they'd pricematch. They pretty much said to fuck off, so I'm going to wait until next weekend to buy the gun for $260.

    Finally

Your first gun? P22 are a real fun time at the range, not the most effective for home defense or carry. What you're going to use it for? In the end, something > nothing, but if you like the ergo's of the P22, I'd check out a P99 also.

range plinker.. something to learn good technique with, but also not break the bank

the P99 is like $200 more than the P22

  5. lol...why didn't you just buy it at the store you saw it at?

I was hoping the bigger gun store would be a little more compromising, or have the gun at a cheaper price.

There's a chance I might not be able to buy the gun since the next time I'm in Indianapolis is next Saturday. I hope he doesn't sell it until then

i might get a p22 to start with, then get a glock 19 for everything non-range.

Its a bit too small for me, but I'm always glad to see someone get a .22 for their first gun, it just makes more sense. Get the P99 later for the similar functions and ergonomics, but for now enjoy being able to go out and shoot all day for $5 worth of ammo.

Good choice then. I've always wanted one, since the day I first rented one at the range. When I hit the indoor range its a must that I rent it.

do you guys think $260 is a fair price?

should I try to haggle? It was a very small shop, but the guy said he's been there for 15 years. Looked very, very family owned and operated

I would love to pay $260 for one. Cheapest i can find around here is $300 and online i think the cheapest i found was like $250. So IMO $260 @ the store is an awesome price.

I'm going to see if they negotiate and if so, I'll offer $250

that $10 will buy me a brick of ammo

i know on some of the older p22's the cheap ammo doesn't cycle very good. I never had that problem with mine, but you might want to just get mini mags for it.

the gun is new, so I'm assuming it comes with the newer mags that don't malfunction
