and I shot over 2,000 pics last weekend and another 1,000+ pics the weekend before that and even more the weekend before that. I need a break from all the shooting to give my cameras a chance to cool down.

I have one more portrait session tomorrow then nothing booked until after Thanksgiving. I knew October was going to be tough but I'm laughing all the way to the bank. :x:

So how's everyone else's October going???

I noticed october being a pretty nice month for weddings. I've been busy with other stuff so I don't have anything scheduled until new years eve.

October is a good time for weddings. I'm glad to get out of August's oppressive heat.

Just came home from another wedding. Goddamn D700 shit out on me again (mirror is locked up, spring seems broken) but it's still covered under warranty so whatever. So far so good.

3300+ today between both cameras. Boxing match from 6-10, then concert from10-1am, and now nightlife.

Pretty much on par with that. Already ran ~4000 frames through the 7D and about 10 hours of video. My post process to do list is looking very daunting right about now. :hs:

Im sorry buddy but there is a difference between your shoots and the folks that have mentioned how many frames they shot. They were hired to shoot somethign specific, and most likely an event. And events take alot more than 38 frames.

I personally was shooting an event, EllisMania. It involved a concert and 7 fights(roughly 6 hours of shooting). And when im working for a new client, i want to make sure i do a great job so they tell all their friends and colleagues. Especially someone in their industry, it can and probably will lead to so many new jobs and contacts.

I mean really, what is shutter count? Our cameras are made to be used and not treasured as expensive toys. Everyone talks about how memory is cheap. I was always taught to shoot alot and shoot often, and its a way to expand your horizons, thinking outside the box with composition and such. Now this much different then spraying and praying, im not just firing frames to in hopes to get some good shots. I know i have some good shots, but i want lots of great shots, from different vantage points, angles, and also different shutter speeds, etc. Because hell if you are there already what is wrong with trying to capture as much as possible?

I don't think clients really care about the mechanics of what it took to deliver.

They just want their end product...whether it takes you 10 shots, 100 shots or a 1000 shots...

Al's point is that we now have the freedom to virtually ignore shot count, it's so low it's become almost irrelevant to your total production cost

On the other hand, if you deliver total shite, but only took 10 shots...whooopdefucking doo... no one cares about this false 'efficiency'

    And money = money.

You take few extra pictures and you spend few extra minutes, but at the end it made a big enough difference that you will get referred to another job.
