It's unfortunate that so many folks are in for themselves.

but there won't be a draft, no political party is that stupid. they would not win an election for 20 years. if there was no direct threat to us, the american people would just be irrate. and thats the most seriousness you will ever see out of me around here

I always think to myself who I pitty more. The tree huggin' liberals who would never dream of serving and see it as pointless :ugh:. Or the pro-war peepz but God forbid they send me or my children...

I've become more cynical to those who say "not now, but if there was a draft, yead I'd go" wtf? Whatever...

My mom still thinks if I get sent to Iraq all I will do is shoot people and lob grenades at crowds :ugh:

Whats sad is shes been in the army, was married to my father while he went to Iraq the first time. Makes me wonder sometimes about her.

Funniest thing she said was cuase I was going for 74D, so like she told me if I get sent to Iraq I better make peace with God becuase hes not gonna like me throwing napalm at people. Im like WTF!!!!!

i don't think the draft is right, i'd rather work with people who want to be there, instead of people forced to be there. Also the draft has somthing unamerican about it.

Just something ive been thinking about. I went to MEPS for my physical on a "slow day" and it was pure chaos. I couldnt imagine if there was a draft and they tried to put thousands though MEPS everyday, assuming that they would require everyone to go though MEPS.

you mean the conscript army that fought in the civil war for the sake preserving this sacred union of states and begat the foundation of equality to be properly defined and announced?

    that's very unamerican aint it

there's expedited processes. they will go through an expedited boot camp process (6 weeks most likely) and then ge given a rifle and told to not die.

frankly, the whole boot camp process is overrated. just because you finished 10 weeks of blah blah doesn't make you any more damn experienced or educated at the art of killing. it takes acculturation and indoctrination of at least 1-2 years before you're sufficient.

a war isn't won by the privates, a war is won by the teams of privates led by experienced NCOs supported by officers and guided by generals.

Unfortunately Canada has already made prepaerations for this should America inforce a Draft. Going to Canada would be horribly difficult and draft dodgers would probably be caught, and the penalty for draft dodging would probably be quite severe, so imho, please weed out the idjits who would try to flee to Canada. Youd be better off going to Mexico.

If the situation gets so bad that a draft would have to be re-instated what makes them think Canada would be any safer?

Military Police. He said they wouldn't give him a clearance to guard anything important. All he did was hunt down deserters. :coold:
