The guy was competant (at least as competant as any other script-reading tech drone). He was very courteous, and I got what I needed out of him quickly (a new motherboard to be sent out to a customer). It DID take some extra concentration to fully comprehend him, but it wasn't nearly the nightmare some people make it out to be.

Basically, it was no worse than any other tech support call I've ever made.

Dell drive me up the wall!!!

After midnight we end up having to call through to india, and it takes ages to get what you want. I was on hold 20 minutes when asking for a replacement PowerEdge 2650 Powersupply. ARGH

There was a show on TechTV about this the other day. They said that most of the call center people in India are college graduates. That's one of the reasons why companies use them, it's almost impossible to get a college grad in the US to do a call center job. They also train them to disguise their accent.

My Indian professor is smart as hell, but I have to put forth a lot of effort to understand her. It makes me zone out in class all the time. :(

Why does everyone think that Tech Support reads a script? I get asked that all the time... I have never had a script to read :( Prolly would make my job easier ;)

I call Dell all the time for business support (replacement hard drives, etc etc)

The wait is MUCH longer now that they are using American techs
