I finally picked up the XD9 subcompact

Now I can put my Colt Officer's ACP in the safe. It was taking too much of a beating staying in my truck all the time.

CHL has been worth every penny if only for how fast handgun sales go with it. :wiggle:

Here's a pic of the XD and my other Springfield.

    That's a Pearce extension, right?

I sold my XD SC for a G19....I loved that little guy, but I'm far more accurate with the glock. I never did get around to trying out the piece extentions, I hear they make a big difference.

new XD45 has the same type of finish as Glocks.

But my XD40 I never did anything special and never had any problems with rust.

I agree, some of the early ones had rust problems, but with normal use, its the same parkerized finishes as 1911s for Springfield and you dont hear rust problems with them

I've always thought the survival rifle was cool, how do you choose if you want to fire the shotgun bore or the .22 bore?

That's a pretty good myth. The HS2000 has been using the same coating as the original XDs and those didn't have problems both by US owners and the Croatian military and police. It was all about maintaining a parkerized/blued finish. The 40 and the 9 of Verm's are both very low serial numbers and neither has had a speck of rust. You just treat it like any other gun instead of a Glock and it's just fine.
(Course now that the .45acp is using Tennifer, ex glock users won't have to worry about having to wipe it down once a month)

  21. I wipe mine down every night before it goes into the safe. And clean it after every use. Take care of your gun as it may save your life one day :)

Translation: I'm scare shitless that my XD will rust so I must wipe it down everyday or else when I wake up in the morning it will be rusted all over.
