Only 16 months after I ordered it.

I have no money to build an AR in 6.5 Creedmor now. :o :hs:

I did get a reminder of why I like my FFL so much.

16 months ago I wrote him a check for $415 to order the lower from DPMS. It turns out that the price on the website is actually the full retail price, not the dealer price. The dealer price is substantially lower. My FFL said he was surprised that they put so much profit on for dealers, but he understands that they do it to protect them.

Bottom line: I sign for my lower AND he hands me $50 in cash.

Any reason you got a 6.5 creedmore, instead of just getting a standard .308 lower? you know they're interchangeable right?

That's what I was thinking ... what's the difference between a .308 and 6.5 lower? They are both AR-10 pattern rifles ... so is it just the caliber marking? That means next to nothing on an AR-15, so there should be no problem building a .308 rifle with that.

I'm not sure of the interchangeability between the LR .308 parts and the 6.5 Creedmoor parts. That could be an awfully expensive assumption to make and be wrong on.

Pretty much every time I've ever tried to contact DPMS to ask questions I get no response. :dunno:

I'm pretty sure the only difference between the two is the barrel, and MAAAYYBE the bolt head, but I'm pretty sure they can use the same mags and everything else.

Honestly, a very good source of info would be Market Garden on TGV. He has a 6.5 Creedmoor AR and could probably help out with questions about compatibility with other calibers based on the AR-10/LAR308 rifles.

I just looked at some pics of his 6.5 Creedmoor AR10... he's actually running a DPMS LR-308 lower marked for .308 caliber. Even using .308/7.62 Magpul PMAGS.

Yeah, only real difference is the barrel. MG just took his LR308 and rebarreled and off he went. I hope DPMS didnt make you wait longer or charge you more for a 6.5 lower as they are the same as any .308.

The difference in price is a whopping $5.

I'm guessing the wait would have been the same.

This should also mean that I can use the LR 308 parts kit. :bigthumb:

Well, good. I guess that $5 could simply be to the different engraving, which is fair enough. I was just hoping it wasnt like $50 more or something cause that would have just been a scam on their part.

Good luck with it, whenever you get it done, will look forward to seeing it. I'm happy with my .308 AR10.
