so ive started to wear a belt for front squats and they feel better. i hit 315x1 with a belt. havent tried it without. but i just feel like im cheating myself because to me if its not completely raw im not demonstrating my body's natural ability. anyone feel the same?

    Huh?

    Then don't use it.

I just started using one, and if nothing else, I no longer feel like I'm trying to rip a hole in my abs when I press.

I use a belt on my heavy sets so my lower back doesn't feel like it's going to explode. Otherwise I try not to wear one. That's the best way to go about it, I think.

I normally do not put the belt on till about 3/4 of the way through my squat/clean work outs. I am kind of on both sides of the fence when it comes to belts/straps ect. If I can do the lift raw then I try to do it raw, other wise just for safety sake I will use something.

basically he wants to have me as strong as possible without gear - and then later on if hopefully all goes well i can start using a belt when / if necessary on actual heavy weights as opposed to the shit that i do now

Yeah, kinda, but requiring double body weight before a belt is allowed seems like a bit much to me.

    i dont see why..

i can back squat 130kg for doubles no problem w/o a belt, i would need about 15kg more to make it double bodyweight.. i guess it just depends on how you feel personally.. his point is that a belt is not necessary unless you're doing something quite heavy :dunno:
