that is currently in between cigarettes
i hear ya
I don't. After being off cigs for 8 years or so, I don't think of myself as a smoker anymore. I'm a non-smoker, always have been. There was just that brief period of time, 10 years, where I smoked.
You are either a smoker, or a non-smoker.
My wife has been trying to quit. Longest she went was 15 days.
The problem is, she still thinks like a smoker. She sees cigs as a crutch and as soon as something goes wrong in her life, she wants her crutch.
The fucked up part about cigarettes is that the craving is inside the cigarette.
So if you just stop smoking them, the cravings will go away.
And cigarettes do not calm your nerves or make you feel good.
The good feeling comes from calming the craving.
Its like wearing a pair of too-small shoes all day just to feel the relief when you finally take them off.
But the addiction teaches you to view cigarettes as a reward. So when you don't smoke for a period of time, say a day or two, you feel you deserve a reward: a cigarette.
Then the cigarette creates the craving and you are right back where you started.
