    now with pictures![post 3]

General McNabb, AMC/CC - 4 Star, coined me today in front of about 30 other general officers :bigthumb:

Then two 2-stars coined me later.

I had never been coined by anyone before.

cool, all I have right now is our det coin. And I'm temporarily in positive control of somebody elses coin that I found in our couch in our CHQ/Lounge. If i can figure out whose it is I'll be sure and give it back to them.

ROTC? You'll get more after(if) you commision. You should at least get a decent drink out of the person who lost the coin.

    :eek3: I'd kill you!

Just remember you have no rank outside of your corps of cadets until you actually pin on :)

Any questions, feel free to pm me. I did 4.5 years in ROTC and I've been active duty for about a year.

 Am I the only one who thinks those coins are just a little pretentious?

Phoenix Summit - All the AMC Generals and General selects were in town, I was an escort for some. There were about a dozen of us that got recognized in front of all of them.

I was talking with a 17 yr TIS E-6 who had never been coined. He was a bit upset.

him - "Even the person who cleaned the toilets got coined [at NATO command] and I didn't!!!!"
someone else -"wow.. who'd you piss off?"

Thanks, I might have to take advantage of your knowlegde then.

I know about my lack of rank(and a first name for that matter), I may have done four years of JROTC, but I operate under the "when in doubt, shut up" policy. Even if I know I'm right, I'm not gonna prove it. It limits the size of my big bag of mistakes.

I do have one question, we have to refer to anybody in the cadet wing as "Cadet SO & so." It really makes me feel like I'm being talked down to when people in my class to it to me. It made me feel like I talking down to the wing comander when I said "Cadet *insert last name here* to try and get his attention. I threw a sir on the end to make myself feel better. IS there something else I can call a fellow cadet if I don't know their last name that doesn't sound like I'm talking down to them?

That's easy to say when you are at your level. If you ever got to their level and looked back over your shoulder at how far you came and how many people it took along the way to get you there, you would probably feel differently. Like ManinCamo said: It's a solid metal "Thank You" note. Don't piss it away like it isn't anything.

A man shows his character in how he wins, how he loses, and how he gives and receives gifts.

The Air Force hands out coins like it's Halloween candy. I have seen Air Force E4's with 20+ coins. There is no weight behind an Air Force coin. I have received 12 coins in less than three years. I took me 9 years to get 8 coins in the Army. In the Army receiving a coin is a major deal. On my Warrant Officer packet I had to list coins I had received and the reason behind being coined.
