I'm still very moved about this event that I shot yesterday evening. These pics are right out of my first edit in LR so there's still a lot of work left to do but I had to share them.

    Small wedding at the home.

The bride and her three wonderful sons.

    emotional bride.

    Lovely bride

    Typical decorations.

    Typical entrance shot

Bride looks at her new husband

The husband. He suffers from Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, otherwise know as Lou Gerhrig's disease. He's in the final stages of the disease.

She's been taking care of him for the last 3-4 years and he's on a ventilator. He cannot move a muscle except for his eyes.

However, I swear he smiled when he saw his bride.

I'd smile too if I saw her dancing her wild salsa moves for me!

And if my new bride was about to give me my first toast.

Time for some toasts and prayers from the family

Her oldest son from a previous marriage gave the most moving speech I've ever heard.

And of course there wasn't a dry eye in the place.

the communication was incredible between the couple

His initials spelled out in strawberries.

The really wonderful/sad thing is that they were suppose to get married in a few weeks in Miami. He wanted to move it up and get married now. I was contacted a week ago to shoot the wedding. I think he knows that his time is near.

This is the most remarkable couple I've ever met. I'm humbled and honored to have shot their wedding.

Jim, I'm going to go ahead and say this one would have me a bit creeped out just to get that out of the way. That being said, I think you did a great job. :o

Thanks guys. 133pilot, don't be depressed. Most of the pics I shot show a wonderful, happy family. He knows that his time is near but he also has known this for several years. She has too. They are celebrating a wonderful time in their lives and we should take comfort in the joy of their celebration.

Having said that, I'm still trying to hold back the tears and not always successfully.

Life isn't fair. That's the rub. But you take what it gives you and make jello shots.

That's awesome. Good for him. The mom hugging her son with him in the background is a great shot...and his eye/facial expression on the two toast shots keeps making me

    Dude DEFINITELY smiled :hs:

The cynical part of me says she has a motive, but the emotions you captured from the moment say she's in it for happiness. Great shots, great couple!

so if he can only move his eyes, what is to say that he dont want to be married but got no choice? Guess that is teh always questioning motive side of me.

Either way, I do feel sad for him and I think you got some good pictures for them. I would never want to go out like that

His mind is untouched and very sharp. He spells out what he wants to say by having a nurse (or his wife) go thru an abridged alphabet. He moves his eyes for yes and no. He's the one who wanted this wedding to happen.

Thanks guys. Just some LR post processing is all that I've done. I'll do a retouch on any prints they order. I need to do a layer/mask thing to take away some of the red flush in his cheeks.

WOW! You did an amazing job for them, capturing an amazing event in their lives. I'm incredibly touched by the story, even more by the emotion captured in the photos. I mean, THAT is the role of the photographer, right?

Mission accomplished. Very well done.:bigthumb:

Great job Jim! That's pretty tough to see. Looks like you captured the emotions perfectly.

I just shot my closest thing to a NILMDTS shot this weekend than I ever want to do. I'm not cut out for emotional shit. I'll leave that to you!
