And it's pissing me off, because I've wanted one for years. I just don't ever use more than one computer at a time, except maybe at work, and I have all the computers I'd ever want at work.

It's people like me who'd rather buy an eeePC for $600 than spend a couple grand on a really nice machine, because at least it's only a week's pay.

you make $600 a week? man.

sometimes it is cool being able to surf the internet while hanging out on the couch... or bringing it with you to someone's house to show them some of the stuff you are working on or photos and shit. but, any of those things can be easily accomplished with an eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepeeeeceee.

$113 a day ex post taxo, including weekends. (I pretend that the company is paying me to relax on the weekends so I can be ready to work hard on Monday.)

    Defense contracting has its perks.

3 years, and keep in mind we're talking single male with no mortgage or dependents, after taxes. It's a good salary for a job that doesn't make me fly all over the place and work 12 hour days.

I could blow 3 grand on a really nice laptop tomorrow if I wanted to, but my big nose isn't the only thing that makes people think I'm Jewish.

Ooh...never saw the s10 before. I respect Lenovo more than Asus, I might have to go with this one instead.

EDIT: dammit, the s10 only has half the RAM, and no SSD. Something this small is gonna get banged around, I don't want a regular hard drive clunking around inside there.

I was joking/being a dick, but I don't think I'm ten years ahead of you.

It's hard to tell how old you are from the pics you've posted. You look anywhere from 30-45 in the more recent ones.

I'd like a laptop that I could use for this exact thing. Anyone have any suggestions? I have an older desktop that still works decent for the most part that I would like to keep and maybe network to a laptop so that I could take shit with me or dick around on OT when i'm on the couch.

looking at something sub 500 and refurbished would be fine. Tigerdirect good?
    is something like this good?

get yourself an eeePC with Windows XP and install the poker room of your choice. Playing poker wherever you have wifi ftw, assuming you're good at it. :)

But then if you're good at it, you'd want a full 17" laptop so you can MT and maximize your potential time vs money spent/earned.

Why stop at one laptop? I had five until I gave one away today. Another one is in storage, and its like 10 years old. The other three:

Dell M90 Mobile Work Station for doing 3D CAD work
Dell Vostro 1500 for playing online, and basically reformatting every 6 months
EeePc 900 Win XP, just to play with

I have an IBM Thinkpad A31 running Kubuntu (web browsing), a Gateway Solo 9100 running XP (engine diagnostics), and a PSION NetBook Pro running Windows CE.NET 4.2 (not a goddamned thing).

I kinda want a laptop that I can do all of the above with. If I could sell my NetBook to someone who's more into dicking around with Windows CE, I'd buy an eeePC tomorrow.
