there, i said it.
wow, that feels so much better.
I like them in small doses, but I find them to be overrated (understatement)
early stuff such as sticky fingers, beggar's banquet, let it bleed is all i really care for
It's old guy music. There really isn't anything to it. After a while it gets pretty lame, but they got some goodies.
Completely overrated music.
And I think that most people on the subforum will agree, also.
i only like paint it black
There's some good stuff there, but it's all been played out. Which makes sense, having been played for 40 years.
I don't like them either...def overrated.
But I also think the Beatles are overrated... but they are way better than the stones
I don't necessarily dislike them, but a little bit goes a long way.
They only had a few good tunes, the majority of their catalog sucks. I agree. Gimme Shelter, Sympathy For The Devil, and Jumpin Jack Flash are good tunes though.
they are pretty catchy
but...they never have anything to SAY, really
so it's kinda meh
Some songs are alright, I can't really say I like them either.
I like the rolling stones, they aren't may favorite band but i still don't mind listening to them. and you can't call a band that has been popular since the 60's overrated because they are obviously doing something right.
actually, i can.
I don't either, never have, I would stretch to say that I strongly dislike them.
well yeah, but you're wrong
You people have no soul.
how could you say the stones are overrated. In fact, what group can you name with more hits (save the beatles). What's more ... what group is still rocking today like them? I saw the stones last year and they put on one of the best shows I have EVER seen and they are twice as old as most of the acts I see.
Look at their most recent greatest hits album 40 licks. What do they have ... like 5 or ten non-classics? How many groups out there have 30 awesome songs that will be played 40 years from now?
the popular since the sixties argument can go either way, their immense popularity is also and argument for them being overrated.......
dare I say britney spears was popular too.
and more logically, so were/are the eagles who i find basically pretty terrible
I like some of their songs, but I agree that they are overrated.
Their popularity since the sixties is really not debateable as the Rolling Stones are still together and touring for over 40 years. Stones are popular but that's not what makes them one of history's international icons of rock. People just like bluesy raw rock and roll and that's probably what keeps selling their tickets.
Stones have staying power, something Britney Spears has yet to prove and do the Eagles even tour together anymore? Even if they do it's only after a few of their members had gone solo meanwhile the Stones' lineup all still remain , minus the band's founder, Brian Jones, of course.
yeah the eagles have a new album coming out.
the point of this was that it's all about opinion. i mean hotel california is like the best selling album ever or something, and take away the title track and maybe desperado, they are fucking awful and overrated as hell if you ask me.
this pretty much sums up what I think of the Rolling Stones i think.
Did you know that Scott Weilands (Velvet Revolver) 12 Bar Blues CD is a Huge nod to Coltrane
Both CDs are great
I have both!!!
BTW The Stones are the greatest band in the world. (Anyone under 25 is to stupid to know)
and [no] definitely not the greatest band, sorry.
their stuff is catchy, sure. nothing that blows my mind at all, it's pretty much 100% safe, catchy music that doesn't take any risks.
Britney Spears has 10 hits. Hits don't mean shit. Hits mean you are a pop band. They're not bad, but don't even compare them to the beatles. Not even close.
1). Brittany Spears does not have ten hits, I'll give her 5 max. And brittany spears was famous for being attractive, not for her music talent. What's more, those songs I mentioned are popular 20 to 40 years after they were written. Brittany Spears' music rarely will play on any station today, much less 20 years from now. Get real. The Stones wrote great songs.
2). People are ashamed to own her music only a few years after her successes. Young people are still into the stones. This may not be so much the case in the states anymore, but in other places it is.
How could you possibly say "don't compare them to the beatles" when you are comparing dumbass brittany spears to the stones. Listen, I agree the beatles are a much better group -- but the stones are easily the uncontested #2 in best rock groups ever.
