my forearms are killing me, it took a few mins.. I have no clue what the rules are so i just held the book away from me without letting it sit or rest on me (I was in a sitting position) so that I was only using my hands, as not to position it on my legs or chest, other than for re-adjusting grip which slipped quite a bit... I remembered reading something about using the thumbs to create a fold and tearing from that point, that's how I got the initial break, which actually came pretty easily.. the rest was just grabbing tight and trying to rip apart pretty much, the 2nd half was much harder than the first

That isn't cheating, that is the way to do it. You don't actually start the tear by pulling, but by folding it in half while gripping the pages together. That causes the pages to start the tear. There was a link on how to do it a while ago.

On this gripping forum I checked out there are guys that compete for speeds and stuff. One guy ripped 3 phone books in 40 seconds or something. It's pretty funny...and sweet. I jjust ordered 5 heavy grips cause I figure it would be a sweet party trick to rip a phone book in half.

there is no way in fuck I could've done it without that initial bend (done fully by holding hands without book resting on anything)

That's very impressive man. How much do you deadlift? You must have quite some strength in those hands.

485 or so.. I just got one out of the plastic today and it's proven to be a formidable opponent, I had to stop about 1/6 of the way through, the initial bend and tear didn't work nearly as well :hs: I'll go back at it in a minute, but my grip strength is shot after deads today
