well, not really beer, but i did go out on lunch break today. sorry if this is long. :eek3:

a friend of a friend was selling off some stuff to purchase a new glock.

i didn't get a steal, but i picked up a stainless, 3" ruger security six with rubber grips and some really nice target sights. i'm not sure if they come that way or not (re: the target sights). i've never owned a nice revolver before. i've been looking for a good .357 for several months now. our local used market sucks and the one dealer i have to work with wanted several hundred over what i thought was reasonable for a new one. when i came across this deal, i jumped and jumped fast. it came with 250 rounds of various ammo and 2 speed loaders and i got it for $350. it is in very good shape. it does have a little pit in the steel on the right side near the front sight, but nothing serious.

we kept talking and he wanted to unload a H&R Topper model 58 single shot 16 guage. he wanted $50 and it was in great shape so i picked it up. it is TIGHT! i'll probably give it to my nephew as he does not have a shotgun.

we talked some more and he wanted to sell a raven .25 auto. ok, don't laugh. he wanted $25 for it, so i bought it. i figure i will just hang onto it until the next gun "buy back" program pops up and i'll get $50 for it and double my money. :p

i stopped at walmart after work and bought some .25 ammo and came home and shot both pistols for a minute before i had go out to eat with my fiance. i shot at 7 yards (resting on my truck hood) with the ruger and put 3 shots right on the money and you could cover the group with a golf ball. the last 3 shots all drifted right, with the furthest flier about 3 inches from the bullseye. not too shabby considering i can't grip the revolver the same as i do my glocks or my 1911, it just feels funny. i will get used to it, but shooting a revolver is much different that a semi to me.

then i shot one mag through the raven at 7 yards offhand and i managed to keep them all on a paper plate. my fiance wanted to shoot a mag through it, but she just shot it to shoot it, she wasn't aiming. :nono: oh well, baby steps. i'm suprised the damn thing fired at all, much less with no problems. i still plan on ditching it as soon as i can make a buck or two off of it. i certainly don't plan on carrying it.

my camera died about two weeks ago, so i'll try to borrow one tomorrow and snag a pic of all three of them and have them up tomorrow night for those that yell "pics, or STFU!". :fawk:

not a bad lunch break i'd say. :bigthumb:

i think i'm outa here for the night, but i'll be back tomorrow.

Three guns, two speed loaders, 250 rounds of ammunition and all for $425?

Sounds like a good deal to my untrained eye. I thought most gun buyback programs offered a bit more (like $100 Visa gift cards).

May be worth is to drive to D.C. and sell it back there. Probably get more money and I think they do it year round. Just give the local PD a call to find out the procedure.

Thats assuming that D.C. isnt too far away. If it is, just call your PD and ask them.

DC is about 3 hours, but i find myself up there 3 or 4 times a year for something or another.

thanks for the hint. :naughty: if i have to go anyways, i might as well get an additional $50 to pay for the gas. :bigthumb:

The MPD has buybacks only like once a year. You get $100.

fuck that, don't sell it to a buy back program. fuck them, just post it for sale for $50 and someone will buy it. The more guns those d-bags get, the better their gun control argument is.

    yes, i did.

i had just a little tiny bit of time to shoot tonight and i got the sights adjusted a little better. it certainly ain't worth bragging over, but i'll take it for now till i have more time. 10 yards, squatting down shooting off my knees.

and the loot that came with it....
