Did two matches, lost both. First match (against a black belt) I get thrown right away, I manage to land on my side a bit to avoid ippon... he gets side control and I immediately get half guard, at this point the ref yells IPPON! for the throw. Now sure why he took so long to call it. My instructor agreed it didn't look like a full point, but no biggie. Second match is against an orange belt, I had a chance to try a couple trips and attempted a knee wheel but couldn't get anything (i have about 3 hours worth of standup judo training). I avoided his throws and used each attempt of his as an opportunity to take his back. He played really defensive and I could never get a solid sub attempt. Late in the match he finally got a really tight scarf hold which I couldn't escape and he won. I'm pretty sure I was ahead on points when this happened though, so that's pretty cool. Considering I don't really do judo, I had a blast. I may start coming to my schools judo class so I be a little more competitive at it.
