I had to buy something so I plunked down $150 on some PS actions. Now I can join the cool kids club with my new totally rad action set. :x:

Damn man, if I knew you were looking, you could have paid me $150 to tell you where the filter's menu is in photoshop.

Be careful, I believe actions can make photographers exceptionally weak.

Kinda like LR presets? Wait, aren't LR presets just actions? :ugh:

Man I am behind on the post processing train by ages... I have CS2 and Lightroom (thanks ot) but no presets or actions...

I have not touched light room as I mainly have been trying to learn PS, any reason to cross into that?

I'd argue that LR is a lot easier to use than PS. If you don't know what you're doing, LR is a lot easier to get good results out of than PS is.

    :werd:

Lightroom can do 90% of what I need done, and it makes it easier. I only use PS when I need to do MASSIVE-photo transforming work.

The New Graduated filters in LR2 have helped me a lot. LR 2 has really kept me from opening up PS except in really extreme cases or heavy client work.

$150???!!! :eek4: Could have just googled tutorials on the effect you wanted to do. :o

    Or go to atncentral. :mamoru:

I agree on the LR concensus here too. Just use PS for more detailed editing.

You know you need to ask us before you do silly stuff like this, right?

If you were gonna spend $$ on PS help, there would have been a couple better choices than the totally rad action set... NIK color Efex Pro being #1 on that list...

But you really should 'try' these for free, then if you decide you want to use them for business purposes, buy them. It's save me a TON of $$ so far...

I was in a "spend money" mood. Besides, after spending two hours editing pics yesterday, these actions will save me a lot of time.

I have all the PS books, tutorials, etc. but I'm a beliver in "somebody-else-figured-out-how-to-do-it-quicker-so-I-don't-mind-buying-it" work flow.

I have them and dont use them - I could have just given you mine.

Kubota is nice, I think I am going to cut out the ones I dont use somehow and create a slimd down version of kubota actions

Download the trial version, then find a serial number. LR is a lot less locked down on serial numbers stuff in the Creative Suite.

My new toys have a time and place to be used. The trick I have to learn is not to overuse them, or to find new ways to combine them. I bought them mainly to use three or four of them (Yin/Yang is my favorite) in order to save time. Eventually I'll learn PS to the point where I could have built all of these myself but I have better things to do at the moment. I have three books on PS but I haven't read all of them yet. I tend to read only the chapters that pertain to what I want to do at the moment.

btw, one of the best PS books I have is all about using Layers. I've learned more from this one book than the others combined.
