I can't move anything on my dock

    I tried adding programs and taking some out but nothing happens. How do I fix this?

    do you think installing parallels had anything to do with it?

    have you tried restarting?
    fixing permissions?

    yea I restarted and no luck. I'm the admin on my laptop so I can't set permissions. at least I think I can't

    no, repair permissions, not set permissions
    Utilities > Disk Utility
    select drive on left pane
    click check permissions, then repair permissions

    and if you're the admin, you should be able to do anything on your laptop :confused:

    yeah i ran that but it said there was an error on my hardrive so i'm just gonna reinstall my os. how do I back up my software installed on my laptop?

    dont reformat

    take the OS disc and boot up from it

    once you boot up from the OS X disc that came with your comp, run Disk Utility and repair permissions from that
