I have a digital camcorder and a few years ago, everytrhing worked great. after a while it stopped working, so i just putit on the shelf.
latly, i've had much need for it, so i got it back out but i can't transfer anything from my camcorder to my PC.
I thought it might have been the software i was using, so i tried others and that's not it.
i replaced the firewire cord, as well as the 1394 port on my computer..
I've tried everything, i just have to assume it's the camera, right?
everything else on it works fine though..

can you think of anything else it might be before i go out and buy a new camera?

What happens when you plug into the computer? Nothing?

nothing, doesn't even make a sound like it's connected and found.
then i'll use my programs to capture footage, with the camera connected and on and nothing happens, says to make sure it's connected and turned on.

do you think that you might have jacked it up when you plugged in that "usb to firewire cord" ?

Long shot, but make sure the Windows Image Acquisition service is started.

but if it doesn't even make a sound, I would assume its the camera or the USB port, not the software.
