I cant get chkdsk to run when I restart the computer.........

    what am i doing wrong???

    i try to run chkdsk /f and it says do you want to do it when the computer is restarted......i say Y (yes)

    when i restart it just boots up like normal......anyone know what im doing wrong


    please help

    Have you tried right clicking on the drive you want to check disk then go to properties, click on the tools tab, error-checking click the button and check the two options? I believe that works as well but i havent chkdsk in a while.

    yes i tried that as well and it still does not run when i restart?

    Try running System File Checker and see if that gets anywhere. First, exit some items
    in the tray area. Start,run then type SFC /SCANNOW then hit Enter. Windows
    will check for missing or corrupt system files. You may be asked to insert your XP
    cd.
