Ok, now I want to buy a 350D instead of a D70 :noes: Should I buy it with the kit lens or this one: Canon EF 28-105 F/3.5-4.5 II USM :noes: It has some very nice reviews and looks like a good lens to start with...(?)

Canon, Nikon, Canon, Nikon... it's too hard to pick one :( :( :( :(

    :hs:

    I know tomorrow I'll want the D70... :(

If I were you I'd go to a camera store and try out both. It pretty much boils down to personal preference. Also, I liked the feel of the D70 over the 350D untill I got a grip for my 350D. The grip made it a million times better, plus it has vertical shutter release :)

I only had the option of 300d or d70 when i was making my decisions and the 300d felt cheap to me. Plus, there was hesitation turning the camera on if the camera went to sleep while in the on position. I didn't like that one bit. Plus, I have access to nikon mount lenses so it was a definite sell for me.

Personally I perfer Nikon to Canon. I like the all metal mounts, and having more than 50 lenses. Also every lens nikon made for their SLR line will fit the D70 weather it's 20 years old or brand new.

I am in the minority in liking Nikon but I am bias beacuse the building I work in houses Nikon digital camera tech suport. Also my Dad has used and swore by Nikons for about 40 years

I have that same camera/lens - get it. I really do enjoy using it, and it covers the basics for daily walkarounds. I would recommend a wider lens in the future in the 10-20mm range, as the 28-105 is just shy of having wide capabilities.

It's good to be a minority :wavey:

    I wanna be a minority with a metal-bodied camera though :(

you will be happy with whatever one you buy..i personally think canons are easier to use and more importantly easier to learn how to use.

about the size..the 350 with grip is probably close to the same size as the d70, but you can't make the d70 as small as the 350 if you needed it to be compact one day

So the Canon EF 28-105 lens is good right? Better than the kit lens?

I still get the kit lens along witht hat 28-105. It's only $100 for the kit lens and the wider angle might be handle sometimes.
