I got out of the Corps in 2002...yet I still cant seem to be able to change my haircut. People always peg me as a Marine...which is ok, but also annoying in a way.

I was in a bar in Dorchester/Boston and this British SAS special forces guy or some shit points at me and goes "Marine". I was like. :ugh: :o :cool: Dude was drunk as hell too.

Another time this vietnam vet or something also pegged me right off the bat. I know its the MArine style haircut and the way I carry myself but I just cant change it. My girlfriends always try to get me to grow it out or try something different. But when the hairs on the back of my neck and around my ears start to grow out it feels so scrubby.

    Anyone experiance this as well?

I want to change...but it never feels right.

jesus i would cry if anyone ever gave me a high and tight
white people and their bad haircuts
id rather get a straight mohawk or a fade.
if i was black id grow a tight little fro that was still good by regulations
i have my  officer haircut, id hate to ruin it
i should just go sf and grow some game show host hair

I have been wanting to get a mohawk. But I have job interviews and such coming up so I cant do that. But mohawks are  .

maybe after I land a job I'll start a month later and do some traveling and sport the hawk.

I need to get out of my damn comfort zone and just let my shit grow out. But everytime I attempt to it looks like ass compared to my squared away clean cut Marine style.

What kind of answers are you looking for?

There isn't some secret way....just grow your shit out since you think it is annoying for people to recognize you as a Marine. I like the clean look, so I think even after i'm out of the Marines, i'll still keep my medium-reg.

The annoying part to me is when people start up conversations about the 10 people and their brothers they know that is in Iraq or on some Army base.

Usually someone will just say "Marine, right?" and i'll say "Yeah" with a smile and walk away.

I can feel ya for a militry cut but a marine high&tight is the silliest shit ever. I like my high fade with the top rounded off. And yes it is very easy to spot a marine with a high and tight because 90% have a landing strip on top

Yea, I know...but the problem is exactly what you just said...the clean look. I feel "no-so-clean" when I dont have that haircut.

I was just wondering if anyone else experianced this after returning to civilian life.

I've only seen like maybe 5 Marines with the horseshoe (or whatever the proper name for it is) ever since i've been in (all 11 months :mamoru:), and i've been around a lot of Marines.

Maybe it's different on the West coast?

I was considering shaving it all off completely...but I figure I should save that for if ever I begin to go bald. Having hair ftw.

Haha yea its pretty easy to peg the SF guys around in civvies. Most likely they have longer hair, side burns down to the bottom of their ears and probably have a set of oakleys with them. Also look for the Sunto watches.
