I shot a single box (50) of it through my p6 along with a box of blazer brass without any problems and it didnt seem any dirtier than blazer/wwb

My friend had some of that shit out on the range the other day. Triple struck one round that never went off and double struck two others that did. Had at least one slow primer otherwise. This was out of a box of 50 BTW. It was made in '05 which isn't very old for ammo, and I know it's been kept in a constant temperature environment with desiccant.

It works as range ammo, but it's somewhat annoying to have all those issues. Of course it was like $4 a box back then too, so it was "buy cheep, stack deep" price.

EDIT: It was actually Barnaul he was having problems with.

You're probably wondering why I kept the post up, it's just my way of saying don't buy the Monarch steel-cased 9mm from Academy. Maybe he just had a bad batch but some people I knew bought several hundred or even a thousand rounds of it at a time.

FWIW, I've been using brass-cased PPU made Monarch/Privi/Wolf Gold for years with no problems. I've even had less issues with the PPU 9mm than WWB. I also ran Brown Bear .380 exclusively in my Sig 232 years back and even qualified for my CHL in freezing rain with it, I have no doubt the 9mm is good.

live in an apartment, would be pretty much impossible..

prolly going to buy a foreclosure in about 6 months when my lease is up. prices are so low, but still fucking high around here.

I do have a tumbler, and a fuck ton of brass i've collected.

Blazer brass at walmart is $8.97/50 which is what I've been buying. I need to buy some today or tomorrow for my CHL class this weekend :o

I stopped out at Buckeye Outdoors yesterday to stock up on some .40 for my G23. Ended up paying $34/100. They had WWB priced at $15/50.

That place is fucking ridiculous on pricing, but I paid it anyways since I didn't feel like searching every Walmart in the city.

The primers are hard to find but not impossible. Even buying them locally for $42/1k will save you money over buying manufactured ammunition.

There's someone here who's got his whole reloading setup packed into a 50BMG ammo can. It won't be a Dillon 550/650 but you can def reload in your place.

  17. It's Soybomb's setup.

Check out Brian Enos' website (www.brianenos.com). Very informative and lists all you need.

Pricing out a 550 with the recommended upgrades, you can do one caliber for just over $600. Other misc stuff like a digital scale, tumbler, primer pickup tubes, etc will drive the price higher though.

Assuming brass is free, I can reload 9mm with 147gr moly-coated bullets & Titegroup powder for around $0.10/rd.

That's what happens when Winchester and Speer/CCI/Federal only ship LE ammunition directly to the LE agencies. :wtc:

Check out AB13's reloading thread in the archives. Full of great information.

AFAIK, you can reload the brass until you see cracks in the neck. That depends on how hot you reload as well as how much bell you put on the neck when you're reloading. Some people get 4 or 5 reloads, some people load up to 15 or 16 times before tossing the brass.

If I ever got into reloading, this is the way I would do it, I think. How long would it take you to crank out 1000 rounds of .40?
