Just got it last week. I've only had a chance to use it briefly.

hmm photo looks soft. also just looks like a straight on flash instead of a ring flash.

 Not quite up to my "jerkit" standards.

I bought the Ray flash. www.expoimaging.net/product-detail....lash_Adapter&gclid=CL3pufSp_ZgCFQVhnAodXWStng

I'm having mixed feelings about it because it doesn't work well with shorter focal length lenses. I get a "ring of light" that appears in the edges of the frame even though I can't see the flash in the viewfinder.

can you fit it on a lens with a hood attached? Maybe that would help with the light on the edges of the frame?

Yes, it's diameter is large enough for most hoods except my 16-35 and 24. I used it with the 50 with the hood and still got a bit of the flash in the shot. Nothing I can't crop out but still....

However, it's almost worthless with the 16-35. The above pic had the ring completely covering the right side. I had to PS it out.

not trying to be a jerk but am i really the only one that thinks this image is a bit soft? i mean look at her eyes and hair.

please prove me wrong with a 100% crop or something.

I think it's just the craptastic photobucket jpeg compression that's making it look like that

I'm at my office. The original is on my home computer. I really don't need to pixel-peep the image by posting 100% crops. Trust me, it's sharp enough.

What you're seeing is a lower quality photobucket-hosted pic.

And for the Rays adapter, the build quality is fine. The only issues I'm having with it I've discussed above.

I have smugmug but I've only used it once. In typical Jcolman fashion, I forgot that I even had the damn thing. :mamoru:

Seriously, photobucket works for all that I need it to do.

    doesn't smugmug cost money? :o

at the very least, smugmug won't reduce the jpeg quality to 10%

I'll probably change accounts once my photobucket account expires. I'm paid up thru July or August I think.
