I can has a new project (56k diaf)

    56k diaf

Cheap iphone picture in crap lighting from earlier today:

hard to go wrong with a complete Z shell for 300 bucks. Only missing the center console cover. It's going to be getting a LD28(T), a five speed, and a R230 rear end if i can arrange it. Probably going to end up turning it into a faux-rally 240Z.

    Better pictures come tomorrow :o

It's actually my second Z, first one is in my profile pic and is my current DD. Going to have some fun swapping that car around once I get this one up and running :p

I used to own a drycleaners, I'm used to the heat :o.
If this damn economy hadn't tanked I would've already flown down to either tx or az to look at one and driven her back  hell there are some decent ones even in NC and such

Z's aren't popular up in the north?

I love Datsun Zs. The guy that lives behind my parents has a 260Z limited rotting in his back yard, rims in the dirt with four flat tires, windows fogged with moss and age and various deposits, an interior that would be great with out all the sun damage, and paint so worn an neglected there is no sign of a clear coat and the color is starting to fade to primer in some areas.

I offered to take it off his hands for what I considered a fair price ($250) and he wouldn't even negotiate. "It isn't for sale."

    Rust

Most 70s/80s Jap cars rust out up here. Even the 90s ones are starting to rust out pretty bad.

I had to fly to Ca to find a rust free Alltrac.

not that they're not popular, but anything here pre 1980's is pretty rusted out in the north east :hs: its tough finding a good condition z around here.

You know there's more titanium on Earth than iron? It sure would be nice if they could come up with an efficient way to refine it, because a car made out of titanium would be as safe as a car made out of steel and it would never, ever rust.

that's why I love living in cali. Hell, in the central valley, you could leave a car outside for decades and it would barely rust.

On the '78 shell, other than a spot right under the battery tray, the only rust is surface rust that I could take off by hand.

so yah, it's been really fucking hot, so I'm not going outside to take more pictures/clean it up. Should be cooling down this week though, so I'll get more then.

Also, I might start selling shit off it that I won't need, so if anyone wants something, lemme know.

There appear to be some parts missing. :eek3:

Seriously though, did it have bodywork done to the rear left corner? The random assortment of tiny holes in the skin back there kinda look like dent puller marks.

I don't think so, and if it was, it wasn't done by the guy I got it from, since he drove it for a few weeks, then started prepping it for an RB project that never happened.

The missing parts are either a) In the back of the car, b) in the garage. The hood/fenders/etc included.

Well, the engine and tranny aren't in either place, since I've got no use for them :p
