How do I know if it's legal? :mamoru:

I know the P22CA is approved, but I'm not sure that this is the CA model. :greddy:

It does have a magazine disconnect, and it doesn't have the threaded barrel...

don't worry about it. When she gets into California she can do the voluntary registration. You get a form from the DOJ that is available on line or at many gun store. Fill it out, send $5 and your done. Just list it as a pistol type on the approves list. (has to be actually close to pistol type)

Or she can just not do the voluntary registration and just avoid committing any crimes with it.

While it would be real bad news getting caught with a unregistered assault rifle , or anything on the prohibited list, a pistol is not a big deal.

What year is it? Im under the impression the non-threaded barrel IS the CA model, and that is the only significant difference.

Why? If she already owns the pistol and is moving into the state, it doesn't have to be on "the list", it just can't be against other ca laws(i.e. threaded barrel).

Not true. Say for example you own a pistol that is not on the approved list, and was not avaliable prior to the approved list being created. Then you get caught doing something really stupid like excessive speed back from the shooting range through a school area and get pulled over by a cop with an attitude. That could be real bad news. At the very least you would lose your pistol. At worse you could lose your right to own guns, pay a fine, and do some time.

Yes true... there's absolutely nothing illegal about owning a pistol that is not on the approved list. The list only pertains to sales through FFL's.

"Effective January 1, 2001, no handgun may be manufactured within California, imported into California for sale, lent, given, kept for sale, or offered/exposed for sale unless that handgun model has passed firing, safety, and drop tests and is certified for sale in California by the Department of Justice. Private party transfers, curio/relic handguns, certain single-action revolvers, and pawn/consignment returns are exempt from this requirement."

while normally I would follow everything he says as if it's the gospel, in this case, it isn't accurate. :dunno:

CA gun laws are rediculous and difficult to stay up on. It's not hard to be misinformed about something.
