I have searched and I can't seem to be having much luck.

The version of GIMP I have is 2.4.6. I want the most updated but I don't know how to go about it.
    I have tried
    Code:
    sudo apt-cache search gimp
    and nothing really comes up
I have searched and read forum posts and reviews but I can't find out how I can install it, or upgrade it.

Yes, I have a man in the house who can do it for me, but I figure I should try to do this myself. If I let him on my computer to do fix something he ends up updating everything and tweaking shit!

    try

    sudo apt-get install gimp

from reading online it states this is smart enough to "upgrade" you existing install.

Maybe you are pulling from just the stable package release and it's not there yet??

Yeah, thanks everyone. Spoke to the hubby last night and he said that he needs to update the whole OS. I don't know if it is a new kernal or just a new version of ubuntu, but he said it is something he needs to do.

That'll teach me for trying to do it myself :)

What version of Ubuntu are you running (before the update)? I am currently running Intrepid Ibex (8.10) and it has GIMP 2.6.3. Jaunty Jackalope (9.04) was released a few days ago and should come with a slightly newer version of GIMP.

I am on Hardy Heron (8.04). Hubby mentioned Jaunty Jackalope was out and he would update my system.
