i am really really sick of protein shakes.. is there an alternative

    Food. Food will help you alot more than any kind of shake. The word "supplement" cant be stressed enough. I try to do anything I can to take away from the shakes and add food. If I am used to 50g protein shakes and 50 carb snacks mid morning and mid afternoon as an example, I'll try to get at least 25g of protein from food, drink the other 25g if I really have to and eat the carbs in rice or potato. I feel alot better with real food, it's better energy and it helps gain weight easier and gives me energy for the gym.

    Crock pot + a good marinade + 20 chicken legs.

    You've got yourself many meals of clean protein. You can cook rice in it too. All you do is open lid, dump everything in, set timer and walk away.

    It takes me less than a minute to make and chug a shake. Pretty convenient and who really cares how it tastes.

    Much better than shoveling dry chicken breasts down your throat.

    Thats not the worst of the tuna shake recipes. Theres a list of about 100 different tuna shake recipes floating around the net. Some sound worse than eating your own shit:rofl:

    and those isopure drinks are disgusting anyways.. eat some oatmeal, or get some diff protein (syntha) that tastes great. Or i guess you could cop a case of those IDS protein shots but thats hardly any calories

    So, 1000 calories from food is better than 1000 calories from shakes? Even though the calories are the same you'll gain more weight from the food? :ugh:

    Umm...yes actually. Your body tends to process foods at different rates, and this means more or less of the actual nutrient content gets absorbed. In general, bulk "food" has a much slower digestion process, meaning more of the nutrients are absorbed.

    Its not so much how much you eat, but how much you absorb.

    true, but on the other side, the protein in whey tends to be more bioavailable then the protein in meat.

    and sometime's ie postworkout, you want your meal to digest quickly so the nutrient starved cells get replenished ASAP

    i crave my protein shakes. i drink one when i want to have dessert. sometimes i workout sooner just cuz u want to drink a shake.

    and i've been drinking ~2/day for 5 years now
