they have varying levels of triggerjobs available from a 4lb carry to a 2lb competition only. $135 for the full job of removing pretravel, overtravel and setting the pull to what you want. Look under XD pricing. I tried one of their competition jobs and it was just like a custom tuned 1911 comp trigger. I am going to have both of mine done with the carry job this summer.

    600 dollars for the XD longslide+ 135 for trigger job= 735

just buy a mid level S&W 1911 for 770-800 and have a true single action design
plus, you can tune a 1911 into a ridiculous racegun if youve got the time and cash in the future.

600? you are shopping in the wrong place. :)
There are a few places selling the Tactical 45 online for 470-480 delivered. I got my 45 service for 450.

Not sure what a "true single action design" means though. If you mean having a design where the racking of the slide cocks the hammer and the trigger simply releases the sear, then you are explaining a 1911, an XD, a SIG single action, a CZ single action.

Oh, and you can make an XD into a ridiculous racegun too if you want.

not whenits a gun i need to practice with a lot (if i'm going to be using it for competition).. i'd prefer something i can afford to shoot. if i was going to build a nice 1911 for looks, functionality, etc etc, i 'd get one. .but for a competition gun, 9mm fits the budget

Get that, with the CC trigger, a set of dawson fiberoptic sights and the screw on magwell with a set of Agrips and you will have on sweet comp gun for a hell of alot less than you would think. Don't bother with any custom barrelwork as the 5" will outshoot you for a few years down the road as it comes out of the barrel. You may want to think about an extended mag release though while CC has it.

(As you can tell, I have already been planning out what my 45 Tactical is going to have done for comp) :)
