Anyone know of any good sites where i could start to learn. I am pretty new to everything so i should probably be starting at the basics.

Also what are some good ebooks that i could download? :hs:

i find that you cant really learn to webdesign ... you can either design or you cant ... if u can ... then webdesign is just a matter of learning how websites work and interact with the user interface ... good luck none the less

    ^^what he said

I finally gave up on web "design" and only focus on "development" now. Thankfully for us developers, there's tons of really good open source design stuff out there now like oswd.org. Seems like most people are good at one or the other, (more artistic vs. more technical)

Sorta pointless when you don't know what the fuck anything does. I would never have understood CSS if I didn't do some reading/trial and error on it.

or for learning server side code which is needed for almost anything useful these days

although I do find myself using firefox web developer (view style info, view javascript etc) a lot to check out how other developers did things
