and it shows
Really? C&C please
no real composition, it looks like a snapshot
dock/birds are underexposed
birds are looking away from the camera
sun reflections in the water are distracting
overall just not that interesting
better angle, don't underexpose the birds, wait for them to look at you, etc.
practice practice practice
What is the deal with the purple highlighting?
I've seen it before, and don't know what it is... Is that a lens issue or a sensor issue?
Not sure what your talking about, I see a little tint on the dock but I didn't post edit anything on these shots.
Now all I see is purple highlights
get closer and fill the frame with the thing you're taking a pic of.your pic is 10% bird and 90% distracting bad bokeh highlights.
What camera/lens are you using?
Sony A700/ 75-300
the purple fringing will happen on occasion but it can be fixed pretty easily. The reason you're getting it so much is because you have cheaper glass and you're shooting towards the sun.
the birds are underexposed, which isn't always a bad thing but in this case it is. the background is very distracting and doesn't draw your eye to the birds like it should. your second shot is getting better but they're still very snapshot like. get creative and see what you can come up with
you gotta work on your composition, get closer to your subject unless you really want to capture something thats in the background/foreground. if your interested in taking pictures of wildlife you are going to need a lens that can get you a bit closer. what lenses do you own?
heres a picture of a pelican i took about a week ago..
the subjects are too dark.
holy shite, paging bateman
don't forget all the green.
The only way I see this photo working is if you had a longer lens and you got on your stomach and exposed for the sky/part of the horizon so the birds are completely silhouetted against the background, but it'd need to be more tightly framed.
Oh, and sickburn.
it actually hurts my eyes to look at the first one.
What do you have in mind?
.... I just laid the shot out for you... The fuck you mean what do I have in mind?
You know what I have in mind? You smashing your camera into little bitty pieces and me dancing around it nude with a torch reenacting the flight of Oceanic 815 via interpretive dance.
