why do people believe that drinking 2-4 gallons of water the day before APFT is going to help with anything? You are not sweating a bucketload during the 2mile run, at least for me.

Plus, I have to get up 10 times that night to take a piss because i have too much water in my system. It's tiring me out.

I usually up my water intake starting 3-4 days before my pt test and I have noticed it does help. 2-4 gallons a day is excessive though, 2 a day has worked well for me.

Bottle of Pedialyte does me fine. Well usually do that Sunday to hydrate from the weekend.

A gallon of water the day before and you can't go wrong.

I don't understand why people make such a big deal out of a friggin PT test. It's about 18 minutes of exercise, broken up.

    :eek3:

I can almost max out on the pushups. It's the situps that kill me. I can only get about 60 :hs:

Just started drinking it to rehydrate before PT/Jump because a medic told me it worked well. To be honest I'm not sure if is any better or worse than just some Gatorade. Hell a small bottle of Gatorade while drinking water would probably be enough to replace electrolytes if needed.

Hell I love when we have PT tests. It is the one day we do the least amount of PT. I do stress them sometimes because it is a test. Just want to do my best.

if your goal is to perform the minimum standard, sure.

PT is a big deal, especially in a grunt unit.

Everyone worries about it. Its just so "definite". Screw up, break your ankle, have back spasm, cramp, etc... and it's :nono: time. It's just a stress that people shouldn't worry about.

I think the Army will be changing the APFT in 2-5 years, surprised they haven't lowered the standards yet (considering they did for the ht/wt).

They are changing the PT standards at basic this June.

I can run the 2 mile in 12 minutes, but I fall out of every ruck march.

The push ups help when I fall over face first during the march though, and have to get up.

Sit ups also help, when I do the "rucksack flop" and have to get up. :mamoru::mamoru:
