    Squirrel :mamoru:.

I have gone 3 times since the beginning of this year. Have not seen a single on e while I am out. I usually go in the afternoon but tomorrow is the last day of the season and I think I am going to go in the early morning.

Tree rats are squirrels, right? I've heard the term before, but never thought to google it.

Hell fuckin yeah dude. Shit's a ton of fun.

You ever eat them? I'm not a big squirrel guy myself. Too greasy/gamey for me.

I haven't actually gone squirrel hunting since I was like 8.

I shoot them in my backyard pretty regularly though :mamoru:

:werd: I occasionally pop one with a pellet gun but never actually went to hunt them. I only hunt what I eat and don't have much interest in eating them.

If I go out specifically looking for squirrels with the .22 or .17, I see deer. If I'm hunting deer with the 7mm or .303, I see more fucking squirrel than I see all season.

If I lug the .303 and the .22 into the stand, I don't see a fucking thing.

    Austin's laws of squirrel hunting:

-When you see a million of them, you won't have a gun
-When you have a gun, you won't see a single one

I just camp out on hills overlooking tree-lines. Usually pop them with a 22lr, or a 222 if I'm feeling sporty. Once went after them with 220Swift shooting the Barnes varmint grenades; THAT was a good time. Red mist FTW.

State land is .22lr or shotgun only. Mod choke and #6 in 12g.

there's actually a squirrel season? I just pick em off with pellet gun or a rock, my friends and i were going to make a squirrel pole to catch these ones in my backyard (I live in the city now). You don't even wanna know how many coons I killed over the past few years and how i killed them peta would come after me

You just have to cook squirrel right. If you kill a big older one you need to boil it first, then fry it. Younger more tender squirrels don't require the boiling. You'll be able to tell by how easy they are to skin.

I get 'em sometimes with .22, and sometimes .22WMR. I've ate 'em before, and they were OK. I need to go again, I'm tired of this winter crap.

Armadillo are fun, but often times too easy.

I think we've pretty much eradicated them from our hunting property.
