Every time I hear a story about a gun "just going off" that doesn't involve a finger on the trigger I start thinking suicide.

That's what I was thinking, or he really didn't know the proper way to carry a rifle on a slippery surface.

PIERCEFIELD, N.Y. -- A hunter from New Jersey died in the Adirondacks after falling 25 feet from a tree stand.

Albert L. Nicholas, 57, of Magnolia, N.J. was hunting with a friend Monday in the Horseshoe Lake Wilderness Area when he fell from the stand. The friend found Nicholas lying at the base of the tree stand bleeding and unresponsive at about 5 p.m., more than two hours after the pair had separated, state police told the Adirondack Daily Enterprise.

Medics and volunteer firefighters had to hike three miles to reach the accident site west of Lake Placid, said Chief Mike Boylan of the Tupper Lake rescue squad.

A guy in PA died after he fell out of the 8' loft in his cabin and landed on a metal-work chair, which punctured his chest. Of all the ways to die....

I never used a stand before and dont really care for blinds I hate sitting in the same place to long, luckily at my uncles hunting property depending on weather conditions I know of a couple good spots where the wait isn't usually to long.
