HUGHES TO TAKE ON GRACIE AT UFC 112 IN ABU DHABI After UFC President Dana White admitted late last week that a Matt Hughes-Renzo Gracie bout was a possibility in the upcoming year, the veteran Hughes confirmed the news on his website. According to Hughes, the fight card slated for April 10, 2010 will take place in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates and will see the 42-year-old Gracie step into the octagon against Hughes, who is six years his junior. "I didn't know if I could say anything about my next fight, but I see that Dana has let the cat out of the bag," wrote Hughes on his website. "So I can tell you I know, on April 10 I will be fighting Renzo Gracie in Abu Dhabi. I haven't signed any paperwork and I don't think Renzo has either, but I think this fight is going to happen." Hughes (43-7) is a former UFC welterweight champion, whose last bout was a victory over Matt Serra at UFC 98. Since 2006, he is 4-3 with two loses at the hands of current welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre. It's been three years since Renzo (13-6-1) has fought competitively, but prior to that he was the winner of his last three matches over the likes of Frank Shamrock, Pat Miletich, and Carlos Newton. He will likely be out to avenge a loss his cousin, Hall of Famer Royce Gracie, suffered to Hughes at UFC 60.
