    Anyone ever use this framework?

Im finding that with my extremely limited coding background, this is helping me enormously. Its really well documented which gives me such a huge advantage over just writing anything from scratch.

Kingtoad referred me to it and I've been reading up on it and using it for just simple development. I'll probably further my usage with it. It's really well done.

"gluing shit together" reminds me a lot like "PEAR". Lot's of bad stuff, few good stuff. :hs:

Too many rules for it to work, reminds me how much of a headache cakephp was. Plus I don't see any benefit using that framework.

I would consider most of them best practices for their framework instead of "restrictions". I haven't worked with CakePHP much but I know the whole automagic concept bothers me. I like control.

    .

Exactly. I look at the tutorials and I'm like, "WTF, why does this have to be capitalized this way? This makes no sense... and why do I need a thousand files for Hello World?"

This is what irritated me with Ruby on Rails.

just used it for a small project and really liking it, but i wouldn't recommend any framework until you have good grasp of the language

I used to actively use it, with almost no php experience I was able to quickly build a php/mysql custom app. It's awesome.

Why would I not want to use a framework to make my life easier? Reinventing the wheel is for morons.

And I had programming experience, just not php.
