I got an email the other day of a newsletter that looked really good. It was obviously done in html and I'm curious how I can do that.. Anyone know of a good program that will let me do something like that?

You have to handcode HTML based e-mails because e-mail browsers are very specific and picky. You have to use 10 year old HTML that is not compliant to the web. You have to use tables and you cannot have any nested tables.

There are a ton of variables because now you're dealing with spam filtering. A lot of HTML based e-mails are flagged as spam and it takes practice, knowledge, and experience to know things to avoid.

I dont much care for them either if they are spam, but this is for an opt-in newsletter that I'm doing for my mortgage business. I suppose I could just send everyone a .pdf file... I'd like it to be easily accessable though.

Everyone hates HTML e-mails. However, there is more money in it than you think. There is actually a lot of money in it.

Care to share some tips with me? PM me if you dont want to give away your secrets.

One problem I'm having is getting my email program to SEND them.. I can't just type the html and hit send because it comes through as plain text. my email settings are set to html though..

:werd: At least it's better than people who send fucking MS office documents though.

My advice: send the headlines and a URL to the full thing every month.

For the record, it is possible to distribute HTML based e-mails with very, very minimal spam score. If you're good enough and know enough, you could send an HTML based e-mail with as much less likeness to be flagged as spam as plain text.

I've been thinking about doing a write up on it for OT but I figure most people wouldn't be in the e-mail marketing business. :dunno:

i would be interested in seeing an EDU, even if im not in the e-marketing business, for other things. my only worry is that it will be blocked or imediatly considered junk mail and they never see it:noes:
