Who do you think will end up carrying these phones in the states?

On HowardForums, it's been said that both T-Mobile and Cingular will be having the Tornado. Although some rumors did suggest that the WiFi didn't score an FCC approval or something. So there may be four versions; Tornado no WiFi, Tornado Music no Wifi, Tornado with WiFi, Tornado Music with WiFi.

As far as the Wizard goes, I don't know if either will carry it. There are rumors both will, but I doubt it. For T-Mobile, it poses a threat to the Sidekick and HP. For Cingular, it poses a threat to the Treo and those stupid Blackberrys.

I think, and in conclusion, we will have to wait to see this unfold.

I just read that the Wizard was going to be available with Cingular late October while Tmo would be getting it in "October" (hence prompting this thread,) hadn't read anything about Cingular getting the Tornado though only Tmobile (again in "October") :dunno:

Right now cingular carries the Treo, SX66, SMT5600, and the blackberries.

The wiz should be the replacement for the sx, tornado the replacement for the SMT. I think it makes sense considering both of these devices support EDGE, and the other models are just getting old. They all market toward different users, thus I think that cingular has a good chance of getting these devices. One would hope at least.

    Now tmobile....they're a bit different...

I forgot EDGE is part of the equation, that would push it more towards Cingular

Wonder why all the sites keep saying Tmo is getting the phones :sad2:

p.s. Here's to hoping Cingular gets both, Tornado for my girl and a Wizard for me :coold: Plus the insurance :o

cingular won't insure either of those phones.

And lots of sites seem to confuse TMO USA with its european counterpart, hence all of the news about them coming here. Its possible, but we'll see.

Yea I wouldn't mind tmobile getting them b/c they're always cheaper. I can probably just get my sister to upgrade her phone to get this, then get it unlocked, flash with a normal rom and be on my way for hundreds cheaper :o

All I know is if neither of them have either phone come Nov. I'm just going to scheme to get the most expensive phone for the lowest price and sell it to get what I really want.

Why would you be hopeful that they don't carry the phone? :ugh:

So it remains high priced, fewer people will know what it is, even fewer will own one, and therefore it remains bleeding edge and e-cool. DUH.

Fuck US mainstream, fuck discounts, fuck warranty/insurance, fuck it all.

"T-Mobile SDA and T-Mobile MDA hitting USA early 2006
Posted Oct 7, 2005, 12:45 PM ET by Peter Rojas

Remember how we said that T-Mobile USA was going to get both the HTC Wizard and the HTC Tornado this month? Yeah, well our source at the carrier says that both phones are still on their way, but that they won’t have them until sometime early next year. Disappointing, but our source was able to send along these pics of both the Wizard (which will be sold as the T-Mobile MDA) and the Tornado (which will be sold as the T-Mobile SDA), as well as further confirm for us that both will run on Windows Mobile 5.0 and have EDGE, WiFi, Bluetooth, and a 1.3 megapixel digital camera. Click on for a pic of the MDA."

i'm still skeptical about tmobile, but we'll see. They need some new powerful phones

I'm still pondering if I should get teh wizard or just keep using my treo until they come out on tmob or cing so i can get them at a subsidized price. I'm kind of hoping it goes to tmobile b/c they're so much cheaper with phone pricing :)

no plans AT ALL for that to come over to N. America - the UMTS band is not supported here, in addition there is no 850mhz frequency on it. Pretty much a phone for the overseas market :hs:

The SDA is coming for sure now, except it has some funky bulge at the top of the phone that partially covers the IR and powerbutton :hsugh: For the wifi and GSM radios, but still...

    Got any pics :x:

I actually don't mind a little bump out if it looks decent, I'll take a little bit of awkward for builtin wifi + GSM :coold:

edit - errr...did you mean GPS? Because that would be :coold: otherwise...

Damn it. I thought I read somewhere that T-Mobile was supposed to be getting an EDGE version. Maybe I'm high though.

The universal is my ideal PPC-Phone :wtc:
