alright, so all of the sudden, my wireless 802.11g decided to disappear from device manager at random, if you restart the computer....it may reappear, it may not, and if it appears and you restart again....it may or not disappear...lol does that make any sense?

i thought the module was going bad so i bought a replacement on ebay but its doing the same thing....notebook is 1 month out of warranty

i reinstall driver...etc...i even did a clean install of windows :o

    what the hell is wrong?

Its the motherboard. My wife has the dv9000 that had the same problem. I did everything I could think of. The only way I could get it to show up was re-installing the drivers in safe mode, which sometimes didnt work. I ended up calling their outsourced tech support, after finding this link. Talked to him for over an hour. He would tell me to do such and such, answering did it, did that. After an hour he says, well it looks like you'll have to send it in. Did so at no charge and had it back in about a week.

I know this link doesnt show your model, but its something to go off of.

Mine was well over a year out of warranty. And they fixed it no questions asked. I cant find the link that stated that it was extended.

They sent me a prepaid box to ship the laptop back in as well. I would contact them and let them know you are experiencing the same as the other models, but yours isnt listed. 2nd bullet of FAQ.

I honestly dont remember, it was about a year ago. And mine was on their list for the HP Limited Warranty Service Enhancement because there were so many problems with that model. If yours is newer, it may just take more time to be added.
