Is this a good first gun? How is it compared to the m&p 9mm and xd9?

I handled my cousin's Storm a few days ago, But didn't get a chance to fire it. I'll make it a point to do so next time I'm up that way.

shot a friend's storm the past few times out.. It's a great gun. I love how the barrel rotates to cut down on recoil.

I read a thread on ar15 and someone compared the recoil to shooting a .22lr. Is that true?

Its a good gun. A lot like the M&P, but with slightly different features and feel.

No, sometime early-mid '08. But we all know how that goes.

My Stoeger Cougar has the rotating barrel, which is essentially a Beretta Cougar, and I love it as well.
It works great, and cuts the recoil of the 40S&W by about 25%.

    No, more like a hot 9 for a 40, and like a 380 for a 9.

Berretta makes a good handgun. it would be amongst the top choices I'd recommend for a steel gun. But yeah, that's the wise thing to do is shoot one first and to compare it to others side by side. Even try a few poly guns. But if your set on a steel gun, try an HK along side it.

I'm not set on a steel gun. I'm going to try the xd, m&p and glock. I still haven't decided if I want to go with a 9, 40 or 45.

I almost bought one. But I bought a P99 instead which was about $100 more too. :hs: I really like the px4 though. But the p99 seemed to fit my hand a bit better and index finger mag release > *.

Someday I may pick one up though if it remains legal in cali.

    Why wouldn't it remain legal?

I was originally looking at the same 3.

Get the M&P. I shot both side by side as my friend bought the PX4 and I ended up getting the M&P because it's slimmer easier to conceal and all stainless steel not to mention real night sites instead of cheap painted on ones that come off and don't glow long either. Plus The PX4 has the hammer to snag and the controls are in goofy positions which make you have to alter your grip to really reach the safety ect... and I have long fingers so it's not like they're short or sausage fingers either lol
After I got mine we went to the range and the M&P has less recoil and shoots so much nicer he sold his PX4 for a M&P

Because all hand guns sold in CA have to pass gay tests by the DOJ to get on an approved for sale list. After some amount of time their approval experires and they have to retest. I think the Px4's approval ends sometime in 08.

If the micro stamping bill passes there wont be any new hand guns for sale in CA by 2010
