so - if i wanted to date someone who was a little bit younger than me...

how young would this person have to be in order for it to be deemed ... "inappropriate?"

    :dunno:

it depends how old you are and how old she is. The gap can seem like less depending on what stage in life you're both at...
    so ages please?

oh woops, sorry I assumed it would be the other way around, Yea I'd say that's totally fine. It's only an issue when the age gap shows more like, 16 and 13 if you get what I'm saying. Or like me, this morning at 4 my math tutor came onto me and he's 32 and i'm 16... now that's just a bit much...

haha, wow. that is a bit much. what'd you do/say? i mighta had to punch a math tutor in the face...

but - yeah, i was feeling a bit weird about pursuing anything...'cause of the age difference, thought i'd see what some impartial people thought...

    you male or female?

Please, 3 years is nothing, especially when all parties involved are 18+.

Unless you're into the bar/club scene and being with someone under 21 is going to mess with your life somehow, your situation is fine. No one I know would think twice about you two as a couple.

I don't see an issue with three years specially when both are over 18

I heard the general rule was half your age plus 7

So if you're 18, the other one is 16
And if you're 52, the other one is 32

As long as they are over 18 your good. 16 works most of the time, but it gets quite iffy at times.

I'm male my first love was considerably older than I was... she was 25 and I was 18... Good times were had, there is no problem with it especially if both sides are consenting and it works even better if they are 18+./

My girlfriend is 13 and i am 16 and our birthdays are in august not very far apart from one another (shes the 8th, im the 17th) she will be 14 and i will be 17. We have had alot of criticism from many people, friends, random ppl etc, But it doesnt mean anything to us, We have been together for 6 months now and its the best relationship, Both our parents are ok with us together and we are very happy, I think if its real then theres no age on love..

Unless its something freaky like 15 y/o girl and a 50 y/o man :ugh:

I wonder if it's like this because women want someone with more authority then themselves, or if it's men that want someone with less authority then themselves so they can be in control easier.

Or both maybe for all I know. I wonder if it's a sign of insecurity, when there's a couple and the man is 40, and the girl is 20 or so.

If they're old enough to bleed they're old enough to breed...jk. In all seriousness though, like everyone said, if you are happy with him than whats the big deal?

So if you're current BF was 2 years younger than you, you wouldn't be dating him? Right. I can understand immaturity is a turn off and most times age determines that but it's seriously in a lot of women's heads I wont date a guy younger than me.

Put it this way. If I met a guy (that I somehow didn't know his age) and found out he was say 18-20 I honestly would probably not even go on a date with him unless he were 20, and I mean 20 turning 21 soon. Young guys are almost always immature, and if they can't go certain places with me because they aren't of age that's an immediate turn off. Obviously there are exceptions, but I've yet to meet them. I've always liked older guys, that's just how it is for me.

I totally understand the 21 rule~ I currently suffer because of being under 21 and all my friends are 21+.

There's simply no way around it and it's not being mean it's reality.
