I give away free stuff on my site donated by companies. I'm getting more and more stuff and not making much money (little bit via adsense). How would you monetize the site to make a decent amount of money off of it?

the concept is interesting and your designs are always clean.
Did you try to get more traffic to it? Digg, etc?

add affiliate links for the stuff you are giving away. "Didn't win? Don't worry, you can now buy this item at a huge discount from amazon.com"

Add a premium level of prizes, that are given away solely to premium members. A premium member is one who pays $10/mo subscription.

I can't give everyone that pays something. Therefore its illegal to charge them for a membership to win something.

Related-items from Amazon with affiliate links might be the go. If they enter a comp, they're obviously interested in that type of product..

Just put up links on some of the past contests, we'll see if it converts to some sales.

Could also pull the 'other buyers who bought this item bought this as well' from amazon.

If it were me I would code up something with the amazon API that pulls the related products based on the tags from your posts so its automated.

Talk to hank85...he knows his amazon api.

As mentioned, try to get affiliate links for the actual companies you are posting about. Some may have programs of their own and wouldn't mind it. Others might not which is where amazon and such might come in...keep in mind though that the advertisers/sponsors might not like the idea of you linking out somewhere else if they are providing the prizes.

Once you get enough traffic you should be able to charge companies a "listing fee" along with their sponsored gift. Say like $200 listing fee with one free prize. If you can get 5 a week that isn't a bad start. Of course you need the traffic to make it worth it to them and eventually you could even charge more. Maybe like a "full week sponsorship" where you only give products from Dell, for example. You could charge them thousands for the sponsorship along with the free prizes...again, if you have the traffic to make it worth it.

That is the eventual goal, I'm just working on building traffic now.
