guaging up is quite literally 'tearing' your lobe, but it's minor shock/trauma, that will easily heal as long as you maintain hygeine and rotate it while in the shower.

The term he used was 'tearing' one could easily argue that ripping is nothing akin to tearing.

stretching(or gauging as you twits keep referring to it as) is NOT tearing your skin. its STRETCHING, thats why its called that. a proper stretch should not hurt and should not tear your skin at all.

Im at a 4 now after carefully stretching up from a 14. I have never had my lobes blown but i can tell you that I experienced moderate soreness after making the move from my 6 gauge to the 4 that lasted about 2 days, with the worst of the discomfort coming only at night, when i tried to sleep on them. Im sorry you most likely blew your earlobes in the stretching process. The advice i've heard most commonly for this is to put in the smaller size and allow for about a 2- 3 month healing process before attempting to stretch again.

A bit of personal advice? How about waiting longer between stretches? When i first began the stretching process, I was told by my piercer that a period of 6-8 weeks was recommended between each stretch to allow maximum comfort and elasticity of the lobe when going forward. 2 weeks DEFINATELY does not seem like a fair amount of time to spend before going with a larger gauge. I think if you wait at LEAST a month between sizes, you'll save yourself a lot of greif and pain. In a lot of peoples haste to stretch faster, theyre actually being set back from their goal in time spent nursing a blown ear back to health before being able to go again. A healthily stretched ear is the result of patience and wisdom.

And the answer is, like i said above, is that most people do just fine after switching to a smaller size for a period of a few months before trying to stretch again. If you are asking if once you have finished the stretching process and want to return to a "normal" lobe again, that depends entirely on your bodies natural elasticity. Even if you had not blown out, there will always be a possibility of it not returning completely back to normal. With a torn lobe, however..your chances are a bit worse of that not closing entirely up.

i see. thanks for the info. so if someone has a blown ear and another without a blown ear, the one without the torn ear will most likely close up better than the other?

That would seem logical to me. I wonder if anyone in here has had that experience?
